Dwayne said that money and other comforts don't concern him as much as his desire for freedom- which is part of the reason he lives in what most people would say are uninhabitable conditions. Dwayne divorced twice and now lives alone.

Dwayne rolls his own cigarettes. Dwayne said that he likes to smoke, but he can't afford cigarettes. So, Dwayne usually picks up long cigarette butts from the street or ask someone for a cigarette.

Dwayne often becomes unstable, especially when he gets drunk. Dwayne said that he became an alcoholic after he lost his house in 2009. Dwayne added that abusing drugs and alcohol abuse mainly caused the divorce.

Dwayne's tent is located right next to someone's residence in Pomeroy, Ohio. However, Dwayne rarely interacts with the outside world.
